As we conclude the Autumn Term, we would like to thank our entire Cams Hill School community for all their support, patience and kindness as we work together through such unpredictable and uncertain times. The spirit and resilience shown by both pupils and staff is second to none and despite the mountain we have had to climb at times, so many wonderful things have been achieved and celebrated this term.
We very much look forward to working with our pupils next term but in the meantime, we wish all our readers a very Happy Christmas!
Acts of Kindness (AOK) and Mission Christmas
On Thursday, we made our final AOK food donation drop off and collection for Mission Christmas. We are so proud of the overwhelming support from our local community and how we have all pulled together to help each other.
It is with sincere and heartfelt gratitude that we thank all those who have supported both charities, knowing that it will have a substantial impact in our community. Thank you.
Merry Christmas Dancing Video
There has been an air of foot-tapping and funky shape throwing as the school has put together a Christmas video to wish our pupils a Merry Christmas. The amazingly talented Mr McKeown recorded a version of Slade’s “Merry Christmas Everyone!” and … well … the staff did their best ‘Strictly’ moves. It must be said, some have more rhythm than others 😊
The Music Department’s Christmas Montage
Mr Cole and Miss Criglington (Curriculum Leaders for Music) were determined not to let current restrictions get in the way of a Christmas performance and a celebration of the musical talent that exists amongst our pupils.
In place of a concert, pupils and staff have wowed us and our community with a version of Band Aid’s ‘Do they know it’s Christmas’ with the twist being that they couldn’t have all the performers, from different year group bubbles, in one space. Therefore, with the help of the very talented Mr Purlsow and Mr Gunter, they recorded each performer separately and the outcome is spectacular. A huge thank you to all involved.
If you haven’t yet seen it, please check out our Christmas montage via the school’s website www.camshill.com or our Facebook page.
Kindness at Christmas
The pupils’ performance of ‘Do They Know it’s Christmas’ has also been shared with the residents of two local care homes; Carleen Nursing Home and Cams Ridge Nursing Home to spread a little festive cheer. Our thanks also go to Tesco Superstore in Fareham, who donated mince pies that we could offer to all the care home residents and their staff to enjoy along with the music. Thank you to all who have helped to spread a little Christmas cheer in our community.
Year 8 Fundraising
This term Year 8 have been fundraising for several local charities such as the Moving On Project, Ripples of Compassion, Acts of Kindness, The Rainbow Trust, No Limits and Rowan’s Hospice. This week donations were made to these fantastic causes just in time for Christmas, including Croft Manor Care Home receiving three hampers put together by 8H1 and Mrs Oswald-Cutler. Thank you for all those who donated or participated.
