We conclude the week with a sunny Friday after a week of very wet weather and it looks like a cold but bright weekend ahead. Fingers crossed!
With just three weeks to go until the end of the first term, we have had another fun-packed week here at Cams Hill School.
To support pupils in GCSE English Literature, we welcomed a theatre company into school on Wednesday. Year 10 thoroughly enjoyed a live performance of A Christmas Carol.
The infamous Scrooge was brought to life along with all the other characters by just three actors! We laughed and we almost cried but we all really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks to the Quantum Theatre Company for a fabulous performance and for Year 10 who did the English Department proud.
On Thursday the Art Department took a trip of Year 10 pupils to Tate Modern in London to inspire and enrich the work they do in class towards their GCSE. Do read more about this trip below.
Many thanks to all parents/carers that were able to join us at the Year 8 Parents’ Tutor Evening on Tuesday. The next wave of Parents’ Evenings on the calendar are Subject Evenings, where parents/carers will meet with their child’s subject teachers – do look at the calendar which can be found on the website for the dates.
A letter has been sent home to parents/carers with an invitation to join us at one of our Christmas Concerts taking place on 11 and 12 December 2019. Tickets are now on sale – don’t miss out!
Please read on to hear about other events from the past week and what’s coming up.

London Tate Modern trip
On Thursday 28 November the Art Department had the pleasure of taking 50 Year 10 Art and Photography pupils to explore modern art at Tate Modern Gallery, London. Perched on the edge of the embankment and ten floors in height, Britain’s national gallery of international modern art is the biggest collection of modern art in Europe dating from 1900 to today. Pupils where challenged to take photographs and absorb as much modern art as they could. Pupils will be recording their experience in their sketchbooks and discussing their favourite artworks back in lesson.
“The day was inspiring. The gallery was an engaging environment and all pupils really enjoyed and valued the day.”
Cams Hill School Election 2019
Cams Hill School is proud to have launched its very own mock election in the lead up to 12 December 2019. We are proud to give our pupils the chance to investigate the political parties and provide a safe forum to discuss and explore different manifestos. We feel that this in an invaluable experience.
This will culminate in a mock election on 9 December 2019, when pupils will experience the process of voting via the balloting system.
Year 9 Teenage Booster Vaccine
Parents/carers of pupils in Year 9 should have received in the post forms for the Teenage Booster Vaccine which will be given on 5/6 February 2020. Please return the consent form to school as soon as possible.
