21st March 2025

Jazz Café at Waypoint Church

We are rapidly approaching yet another end of term. Between now and then, the second Year 11 Parents’ Subject Evening of the year is taking place on Tuesday 1 April 2025 in school, with appointment booking opening at 1800 on 21 March 2025. Please refer to the letter sent to parents/carers for specific details.

We remind pupils, parents and carers that there is a non-school uniform day taking place on Friday 28 March 2025 and school closes to pupils on Friday 4 April 2025 for the Easter holiday at 1450.

Year 11 Intended Destination Data

Year 11 are at an exciting time in their Cams Hill School journey as they continue to prepare for their final exams.

We are in the process of collating information regarding where they are up to with their planning on where they wish to progress to, for the next academic year – pupils have been emailed a link to a form to complete, and this can also be found on their ClassCharts.

As a school we must report this data to Hampshire, as our local authority, so would be grateful if the forms could be completed as soon as possible.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Last weekend saw our Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award pupils experience their first, rather chilly training camp. They have been learning how to cook on open stoves, read maps and write route cards, and put up their tents.  This was a great preparation for their assessed expedition in May, although we hope it will be much warmer for the real thing.

Jazz Café

Yesterday we held our annual Jazz Café event at a new venue: Waypoint Church. This provided pupils with an opportunity to perform on a large stage, with excellent sound and light facilities. The auditorium also accommodated our traditional casual seating and audience members enjoying food and drink throughout the evening. The evening included performances of jazz and soul inspired pieces and arrangements.

The solo performers were accompanied by our ‘pit band’ made up of pupils and staff as we continue to ensure that all the music heard was performed live.

The standard of the performers was incredibly high, and we are grateful to them for all their hard work preparing for the evening. Our thanks also go to all the staff working behind the scenes to make the evening such a huge success.

Soul Band at Wicor Primary School

A Year 10 line-up of our Soul Band visited Wicor Primary School last week and performed to their pupils and staff.  They were warmly received as ever, with lots of clapping along and brilliant comments from both pupils and staff.

Exam Self-Care – Young Minds

We all know that exams are extremely challenging, not only because of what we must learn, but also because they can affect our mental health. We’re told to take regular breaks, but some find it hard to know how best to use them. Exam pressure is a rich topic for which there is plenty of advice. However, much of this advice focuses on study techniques to memorise exam topics. The reality is that much of the most vital revision is executed when not revising. Sometimes this aspect of revision can be more important than the active element. If interested in finding some top tier self-care tips, please follow the link below:
