School Drop Off and Pick Up Safety Reminder

School drop-off and pick-up times are busy, and it is essential to prioritise the safety of all pupils. We are grateful to parents and carers who are mindful of the risks to children and drive accordingly, but we have noticed that a small number are reversing their vehicles back out onto Shearwater Avenue against the designated one-way entrance to the school. This is often done to avoid the queue on the school site but significantly increases the risk to children. If there is not the time to queue, we ask that parents and carers consider their child’s travel arrangements.

The school takes the safety of all pupils very seriously. We kindly ask all parents/carers to follow the correct traffic flow and avoid any actions that may add further risk to children and others in the school community.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school safe.

African Adventures Foundation – Charity Fundraising – Concert

This event aims to raise funds for our upcoming volunteer trip to Nakuru, Kenya. In July, 48 Year 10 pupils will embark on a transformative journey to support local community projects in this developing region. During their time, pupils will volunteer in three local schools, assisting with teaching, sports coaching, and essential community building and renovation projects. Funds raised will directly support these schools by contributing to vital projects such as constructing classrooms, kitchens, and toilet facilities, as well as providing free meals for children in need.

African Adventures Foundation – Charity Fundraising – Years 7 and 8 Disco

We are immensely proud of the dedication and effort our Year 10 pupils are putting into raising money. On Friday 14 February at the Years 7 and 8 Disco, M Edmunds and J Davis-Brown raised an impressive £223.50 through their sweet sale. This is an outstanding achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work.

Year 11’s  Unforgettable Journey to the Land of Fire and Ice

Over half term, we had the incredible opportunity to take 39 Year 11 pupils on an unforgettable adventure to Iceland, the land of fire and ice! While this year saw an unusual lack of snow and ice, there was no shortage of volcanic activity and breathtaking landscapes for our pupils to explore.

Pupils experienced the capital Reykjavik, the lava show and lava centre, waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss and the dramatic Black Sand Beach along with The Golden Circle.  We also passed through the eerie, evacuated town of Grindavik, abandoned due to ongoing volcanic activity. It was a rare opportunity to witness first-hand the devastating effects of tectonic forces, from fissures in the earth to fresh lava fields.  To round off an action-packed trip, we indulged in some well-earned relaxation at the Blue Lagoon, where pupils soaked in the warm, mineral-rich waters—an unforgettable way to end our adventure!

This trip was truly an incredible experience, and we hope our Year 11 pupils enjoyed every moment. A huge thank you to Mr Booth, Mrs Cother, Mr Dickinson, and most importantly our phenomenal Year 11 pupils who were fantastic ambassadors for Cams Hill School.  We can’t wait for the next adventure! 🌋❄️✨

Young Carers

At Cams Hill school we are aware that some pupils are Young Carers and may experience difficulties in their education because of their caring role.

A Young Carer is a child under 18 who regularly helps to look after a family member or friend who is disabled, ill, has a mental health condition or addiction problem.

Children may engage in:

  • Practical tasks (cooking, housework and shopping)
  • Physical care (lifting or helping someone use the stairs)
  • Personal care (dressing, washing, helping with toilet needs)
  • Managing the family budget (collecting benefits and prescriptions)
  • Managing medication
  • Looking after younger siblings
  • Helping someone communicate

Cams Hill School can support young carers. If you, or a family member, needs support please contact either Mrs Allen or the Head of Year. All contact will be treated in the strictest confidence.
