Happy New Year!

Welcome back to all our readers as we conclude the first week of the new Spring Term and it has been a cold one! We kindly remind parents and carers to ensure their child wears a coat to school. It is important that pupils are suitably dressed for being outside, and we appreciate your support with this.

Our whole school assembly focus this week has been on and around New Year resolutions delivered by Mrs Seve (Associate Assistant Headteacher).

New Year is a great time to make promises to yourself to do or stop doing something. Pupils learned about the determination that goes in to achieve goals by looking at the traits of successful people. They learned they all had the same things in common – resilience, routine, adaptability, mindset.

In tutor time pupils will be working on their own resolutions and supporting actions to be successful in achieving them.  It would be great if you could have a conversation with your child about theirs so you can support them in achieving these goals.

Year 11 Art, Photography and Graphics

Year 11 Art, Photography and Graphics pupils are now in receipt of their GCSE externally set task which is set by AQA Exam Board each January. Their teachers are excited for pupils to embark on what will be their final project of their GCSE and strongly encourage all Year 11 pupils studying these subjects to take advantage of the Thursday catch up sessions that run after school 3-4pm.

As parents and carers, we ask you to discuss the chosen starting point with your child and how you can support them at home over the next 12 weeks ahead of their 10-hour controlled assessment.

Food Bank Thank You

A huge, huge thank you for all your donations, the food bank team were extremely grateful. Your kindness helped so many families through Christmas. We cannot thank you all enough.

Free Bike Doctor and Bike Security Coding – Tuesday 14 January and Wednesday 15 January

We have booked the Sustrans charity to come into school on Tuesday and Wednesday next week to carry out free repairs and services for pupils’ bikes as part of their “Bike It” project.

If your child cycles to school or has a bike at home which needs fixing, they need to bring it in on either Tuesday or Wednesday and the team will look it over during the school day so it will not have an impact on children getting to or from school. The flyer, on the link below, outlines the work they can do, along with more information about their charity.

Calling all Alumni

Did you complete an apprenticeship after your time at Cams Hill School? If so, we would love to hear from you via careers@camshill.com

Alumni Interview

This week we were visited by Sam who left Cams Hill in 2017. Sam secured an apprenticeship when he left school and now works as a Buyer at Eaton. Two Year 8 pupils agreed to host the interview and did a great job asking Sam about his apprenticeship journey. The interview will be made available to all pupils during National Apprenticeship Week taking place 10 -16 February 2025.
