Needle Felting in KS3 Art Club

We remind parents/carers that the school is closed to pupils next Friday, 25 October 2024 as it is an INSET Day.

Thank you to all Year 7 parents and carers who were able to join us for the Year 7 Settling-in Evening to hear about how their child has settled into the new routines of a secondary school and Year 10 parents and carers for the Year 10 Tutor Evening. Thank you also for the feedback we have received on the questionnaire; this has been positive and helpful.

After the half-term holiday, Year 11 pupils will be sitting their mock examinations, Monday 4 November to Tuesday 12 November 2024. A letter with the timetable and associated arrangements has been sent to parents/carers and we ask pupils, parents, and carers to take time to read and digest this information.

Pupils taking either Spanish and/or French will be having their speaking mocks week beginning 21 October 2024.

We encourage pupils to prepare for all these exams by making use of the materials provided by their teachers and other revision resources available. The Tutors, Head of Year and Assistant Head of Year are on hand to answer any questions and address any concerns that may exist, appreciating that this can be a demanding time. We wish Year 11 all the very best with these exams and their preparation for them.

Cams Hill School Helps Support Rowans Hospice

Our lettings continue to be popular, and we are particularly proud when the hiring of our facilities also helps others in the community.  Stubbington Green Runners hosted a sponsored run using the school track in August and this week they were able to present a cheque for £500 to Rowans Hospice.

Please see our website if you would like further information on hiring our facilities.

Needle Felting in KS3 Art Club

This week Art Club started a new mini project, with Halloween as our inspiration. We are using roving wool and felting needles to create our own spooky and gory needle felted eyeballs. Needle felting is a simple and fun way to create easy 3D forms by combining fibres. It takes time to grasp the technique to create an effective outcome, but after making our eyeballs, next week we will create miniature pumpkins.

Please continue to support your child’s punctuality to school

A letter was sent to all parents/carers on 4 September about the importance we place on punctuality, our expectations, and our consequences for arriving late. To foster good habits and maximise learning time, we expect all pupils to be on time every day.  Allowing time for unexpected issues is also important. The impact for pupils when late to school includes:

  • Missing the beginning of lessons
  • Feeling unprepared for the day
  • Missing important instructions and messages
  • Learning bad habits which could affect their employability in the future

The expectations for all pupils are the same, regardless of how far from the school they live, and we remain consistent in our approach.  As per our letter of 18 October 2025, traffic problems, unless they are severe and affecting a large number of pupils, will no longer be accepted as a reason for arriving late to school.
