Weekly Message 240 – 11 October 2024
11th October 2024
Year 11 Parents’ Information Evening
Thank you to all parents and carers who were able to join us at the Year 11 Parents’ Information Evening on Tuesday. We hope that it has given you a good insight into what lies ahead for the year, the support that the school can offer and how you can work with their child at home to support them to keep on track with independent work including homework.
We look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday 10 December for the first Year 11 Parents’ Evening of this academic year.
The presentation that was delivered and all handouts will be made available able for reference very soon.
Parent Governor Vacancy
We are about to launch an application process for one new volunteer parent/carer local governor to join our Cams Hill Local Governing Body. Applications will be welcome from parents/carers of pupils currently registered with Cams Hill School.
An email will be sent to all parents/carers next week sharing further information about the role and how to apply, along with the application form. In the meantime, should it be of interest, further information about our Local Governing Body can be found on the school website at www.camshill.com/governors
A27 Cams Hill Improvement Scheme – Junction of Cams Hall and the A27
We have been informed by Hampshire County Council that the new permanent traffic lights are working at the junction of Cams Hall and A27 with push button controlled pedestrian crossing. Please remind pupils of the importance of using the push button control and of checking that no traffic is coming before crossing the road.
Homework
We have used evidence from education research on homework, and information provided through consultation with pupils, parents/carers, and teachers, to develop and launch a new homework policy this year. It focusses on tasks which support learning, set at a consistent frequency. Completing homework will help pupils to develop independence in their learning and increase their confidence in lessons.
Since the beginning of term, 96.5% of all homework set has been completed on time, a fantastic achievement. Even more impressive is that 8,356 positive behaviour points have been awarded for excellent homework. We are absolutely delighted with how well pupils have risen to the challenge of more regular homework and would like to thank parents/carers for their support.
Homework Club
We would like to remind pupils, parents, and carers that homework club is open to all year groups on Wednesdays after school in the library. Year 11 pupils can also attend on Thursdays after school. Support from staff is available at these sessions.

MathsWatch and Educake
These are two online resources that we expect pupils to be accessing routinely with homework set by teachers and independently to support their progress in Maths, Science, and other subjects. We ask parents/carers to check in with their child to see whether they are accessing these resources routinely and to encourage the best use of them.
If there are issues with access, please bring this to the school’s attention as soon as possible so that we can help.
