Weekly Message 233 – 12 July 2024
12th July 2024
As we edge ever closer to the end of this academic year, we move into the part of the summer term where, as a school community, we celebrate and reward success.
Coming up over the next two weeks is the House and Rewards Celebration Day – the specific arrangements for the day and the criteria to take part have already been shared with pupils, parents, and carers, and every year group will take part in a Celebration Assembly led by their Head of Year.
So many of our pupils strive to be the best they can be, and we truly value the opportunity to acknowledge their achievements, hard work, and dedication to learning as well as their kindness, compassion, and commitment to the community.
Year 6 Transition Day
On Monday and Tuesday this week we welcomed the Year 6 pupils for their transition days, ahead of their arrival in September. Over the course of the two days the pupils attended a wide variety of lessons and activities, including creative writing in English, exploring different cultures in RS, and the ever-popular rainbow-making in science. New friendships were made and the teambuilding in tutor groups was a joy to see.
Although the weather was not kind, the pupils did not let that dampen their spirits, and we were blown away by their enthusiasm and willingness to join in with everything. We said goodbye to some very tired Year 6 pupils but are already looking forward to seeing them again in September, as our Class of 2029!
Please be advised that the transition24@camshill.com inbox will close at the end of the school day on Monday 22 July 2024. Should parent/carers have any queries beyond this date, please use office@camshill.com
Year 8 Geography Trips to the Witterings
The days that Year 8 and staff went to the Witterings near Chichester to investigate physical and human geography couldn’t have been more contrasted: Tuesday was cool, blowy, and wet; Thursday was warm, dry, and sunny. The staff who went on both days got soaked one day and sun-kissed the next.
The pupils acquitted themselves wonderfully, especially the C-side who went in the bad weather. Indeed, the Year 8s and staff received several enquiries as to which school the pupils attended, and compliments for their conduct, from local residents. Ice cream was eaten, memories were made, experiences forged, learning acquired, and the spell of East Head Spit and the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was cast. Mr G Blackman’s thanks go to all the staff for giving their time to support this activity.
Year 10 Visit to University of Southampton
On Thursday, a group of Year 10 pupils spent the day at the University of Southampton. They attended workshops on “What makes you employable” and “How to Budget Effectively” which both involved teamwork activities to really get them thinking about their futures.
Pupils were also given a tour of the campus and had a Question-and-Answer session with student ambassadors. We hope this experience was insightful and has helped pupils feel informed about university life.
We Will Rock You Auditions
Wow! Auditions never fail to make the production team smile. It is such a wonderful afternoon to watch the talent that our young people have. It is always such a difficult decision when casting the production and we really do wish we could please everyone.
Thank you to all the pupils who auditioned and if you haven’t quite got what you want this year, then please do see us in September for backstage responsibilities. We Will Rock You!
