Prom 2024

Class of 2024 Celebrate in Style

Last Friday, our Year 11 pupils celebrated together the end of their exams and their five years at Cams Hill School at their prom. There were some highly stylish arrivals, including a convoy of motorbikes, and some gorgeous vintage cars. Everyone looked fantastic and a fabulous time was had by both pupils and staff.

Year 11, it was great to see so many of you on the dance floor enjoying yourselves, minus a few questionable dance moves – mainly from the teachers! It was a well-deserved celebration of your journey with us at Cams Hill.

A huge thank you to the Year 11 Team, especially Mrs McGinty, for organising a fantastic event and making the evening the success that it was, and to the staff for giving their time to enable our amazing Class of 2024 to have the best time together. We miss them dearly already!

Reminder to Pupils Taking Part in 1000m, 1500m and High Jump on Monday 1 July

On Monday we will be holding our first three events ahead of Sports Day.  Pupils involved in these events should wear their PE kit into school on Monday 1 July 2024 to take part.

Soul Band in Fareham Town Centre

Cams Hill Soul Band were invited to perform at the Fareham Bandstand last Saturday. Music for the day was arranged between Fareham Council and Fareham College. This was part of the Fareham Council 999 Day event.

The weather was great, and Cams Hill Soul Band attracted a sizeable audience from members of the Cams Hill community and passersby who were drawn in by the high-quality performances of well-loved soul classics.

We thank all the band members and especially the commitment of those juggling events on that day and the Year 11 pupils who performed the afternoon after their prom.

Women in Engineering Day

A group of Year 9 pupils visited Portsmouth Guildhall on Thursday for a Women in Engineering Day hosted by BAE.  It was a fun and enriching day including ice-breaking activities, presentations, speed networking and a practical workshop where they had to address the real-world issue of corrosion to sea vessels and come up with a solution.  All activities were run by BAE’s female engineers and staff who were incredibly interesting and inspiring to our young people. If any pupils are interested in a career in engineering or working for BAE in the future, please contact Miss Vadis (careers@camshill.com) or pop to the Careers office for further information.

Art Workshop at Wicor School

On Tuesday, the Art

Department along with three super Year 9 helpers, visited Wicor Primary School as part of our masterclass initiative which saw the whole of Year 5 create hanging clay birds. The pupils learned about embellishment and the quality of mark making to create texture.

The birds have been brought back to Cams Hill to be fired in our kiln before being returned to the pupils to paint and hang around their school. The Art department are also visiting other local primary schools this term to meet with Year 5 pupils and deliver Art workshops.

General Election

In the 2019 General Election the 18-24 age group were less likely to vote than other age groups according to the published estimated turnout figures. Recognising the value of democracy Cams Hill School is pleased to announce that we are holding our very own General Election, on Thursday 4 July.

This week, pupils have been learning about the policies of each major political party in preparation for the event. During the day, pupils will have the opportunity to experience voting at our Cams Hill Polling Station. They will vote for not only a political party, but also their new Pupil Leadership representatives.
