Today we held a non-uniform day in aid of Comic Relief. There has been a real buzz in the air as both pupils and staff took part in the activities on offer to raise money for this great cause. The day concluded with a pupil vs staff volleyball extravaganza. After a sterling effort from both teams the game concluded with the pupils taking the top spot.
Cake sales are always a huge success! Thank you to colleagues in the canteen for making gorgeous ‘Comic Cupcakes’ and for a cake stall set up by pupils and their tutor in 8C1 on Wednesday. At time of writing a whopping £800 has been counted but we will update you next week with the final amount.

Year 8 Visits to Southampton City Art Gallery
This week Year 8 visited Southampton City Art Gallery to support their current Sea Life project. Pupils took part in two practical art workshops and had a guided tour of the gallery. They learnt about the pre-Raphaelites, where the paint colour blue originated, how artists have used everyday objects such as plastic, in their work and were introduced to a Turner painting worth a mere £14million! The pupils were a credit to the school and their artwork will be displayed in the school L ibrary and used as inspiration for the rest of their project.
Supporting Local Charities – Final Straw Foundation
We are pleased to tell you that we have been able to donate a phenomenal £850 to one of our three school charities, Final Straw Foundation. Final Straw Foundation is a registered charity working with local communities and businesses to highlight the impact of plastic pollution on our environment and to try to minimise the amount of plastic entering our local seas and wider oceans.
We couldn’t be more grateful for the generosity shown by members of our school community. Thank you!
