Year 6 Transition

With additional risk reduction measures in place, this week we were thrilled to be able to welcome and get to know our new Year 7 pupils, our Class of 2026.

In small groups, supported by buddies, the pupils were able to spend time with their tutor and time in lessons to help familiarise themselves with the school ahead of their September start.

The feedback from both pupils and parents/carers has been phenomenal with so much gratitude for being able to make this happen as we conclude another turbulent year. Well done Year 6 – you smashed it!

We can’t wait to meet the pupils again in September, as they become fully fledged members of the Cams Hill School community. In the meantime, we look forward to spending some more time with many of them during Summer School taking place during the Summer Holiday.

News from the PE Department

Athletics

Exciting Athletics news.

Over the past week Year 7 and 8 pupils have attended area trials in Athletics. The trials were open to pupils to all schools in Fareham and Gosport to select a district team to participate in the County Athletics competition later this month.

The great news is that we have 22 pupils who qualified for this event as they finished either first or second in their respective events. This is an outstanding achievement and will give these pupils the opportunity to compete against the best athletes in Hampshire.

We wish them all the very best of luck.

Football

Our Year 9 footballers attended their area football tournament on Wednesday. A great performance which saw them finish 3rd in their pool.

Netball

We wish our Year 9 Netball team the best of luck as they participate in the area tournament next Monday.

And the all-important Sports Day …

Our annual Sports Day is taking place next week. This is a big event on the school calendar that both pupils and staff look forward to as pupils take part individually and in team events, to earn the all-important House Points. Remember every event entered is worth 10 house points – regardless of where the pupil comes!

Tutors have been speaking with pupils about what they can do as a tutor group to get into the spirit of Sports Day, but we remind pupils that usual school expectations regarding uniform apply the following day.

We ask parents/carers to ensure that if weather is good, sun cream is worn and reapplied throughout the day. Anyone with asthma or allergies must ensure they carry asthma pumps and Epipens with them at all times.

Pupils need to remember to bring a drinks bottle and to drink lots of water.

All music requests (suitable for school and the occasion) to Mrs Holden via lholden@camshill.com. Deadline Monday 5 July.

Good luck to everyone, any questions; please ask Mrs Holden.
