A huge thank you to all the members of our school community for another fantastic half term.

Well done to Year 11 with their exams so far; you are all brilliant and have presented with such a mature and committed attitude as you apply all the hard work over the last five years to each exam. We hope that you find some time to rest up over the next week amongst the time spent preparing for the exams after half term.

We remind parents, carers and pupils that the optional plain round-necked jumper/sweatshirt are not permitted to be worn after the half term break but pupils are expected to wear their blazer. Full details about our uniform can be found on our website.

In the meantime, we wish our pupils a lovely half term break and look forward to welcoming pupils back into school on Monday 5 June 2023.

Graphics Trip to Fareham College

On Wednesday, Mrs Farmer took our Year 10 GCSE Graphics pupils on a visit to Fareham College. This was a fantastic enrichment opportunity for the group to learn new skills in the college’s state of the art Graphics Suite.

The workshop was delivered by Russell Squires, Lead Graphics Lecturer, and pupils used Apple Macs to learn new skills in Photoshop. During their visit they also had the opportunity to explore some of the other creative courses on offer at Fareham College. Pupils enjoyed the workshop, creating distorted faces with colour and broken up shapes. All work produced will be presented in pupils’ GCSE portfolios.

Soul Band at Wicor EcoFayre

Last weekend the Cams Hill Soul Band performed at an EcoFayre event held at Wicor Primary School. The band played a 30-minute set of classic funk and soul songs ranging from such legends as Stevie Wonder and Tina Turner. The event was very well attended and provided the pupils with another opportunity to play to an appreciative audience.

Many thanks to all pupils who played and those who helped with the umpiring and scoring.

Girls’ Football Tournament

The girls’ tournament took place at Eastleigh Leisure Centre and was run by Barton Peveril and their Sports students.

As soon as we arrived, we were given a 2nd year chaperone who took the team on a warm-up.  The girls bonded really well, with some already knowing each other from playing football outside school.

There were a total of 11 teams from the Southampton area, which presented a busy afternoon. We played one game on and had a game off which was perfect due to the heat and the fast-paced games. We had some 0-0 and 1-1 games which were end to end and even with a half way line screamer we unfortunately lost one of our games 2-1. After that the girls sprang into action with two wins in a row on the “lucky” middle pitch!

We missed out on a top spot, but the pupils worked hard all afternoon and came away very proud of some of their goals and performances.
