Thank you to parents/carers for joining us at the Year 8 and 9 Parents’ Tutor Evening on Tuesday 15 November 2022 and for your feedback. Tutors value the opportunity to meet with you in person to discuss how your child has settled into the academic year.
We remind parents and carers that the school is closed to pupils on Monday 21 November as it is an INSET Day. Teachers will be involved in moderation and standardisation activities following the mock exams which contributes to the determination of the Assessment Tracker (3) data – this will be shared with Year 11 pupils and parents/carers in early December 2022.

Anti-Bullying Week
This week was Anti-Bullying Week, and the theme was Reach Out. Pupils had assemblies with Miss Robinson (Head of Year 10) and Miss Kendall (Assistant Head of Year 11) to launch the initiative and to discuss what bullying is.
During tutor time, pupils have been discussing what it means to ‘Reach Out’ to others and what they would like Anti-Bullying at Cams Hill School to look like. We are in the process of relaunching our Anti-Bullying Collective (ABC) which is a pupil-led group and have asked for pupils to express an interest in joining us – they can do this through their tutors.

Dungeons and Dragons/Warhammer Club
Our ‘Dungeons and Dragons and Warhammer’ clubs are going fantastically well this term. With Warhammer, pupils are enjoying working together to paint and make their own miniature army. In Dungeons and Dragons, pupils enjoy playing through their campaigns and imagining the situations that their characters are going through and roleplaying as the characters they have created. They have regularly visited the ‘shop’ and have bought helpful potions and weapons. Unfortunately, their characters are currently in the middle of surviving a group of orcs!

Art Competition Update
We would like to thank all our artists who entered the ‘My Coat of Arms’ Art Competition. We had over 30 entrants across all the categories in Years 7-10. There were designs of all sizes and styles in various mediums and formats. Our entries will be judged shortly by Ms Oswald-Cutler (Curriculum Leader of Art) and Ms Noble (Assistant Headteacher), with the results and prizes given out soon, as well as a certificate for everyone who took part.
The entries will be sent forward to the Hampshire CAMHS ‘Coat of Arms Project’ where they will be on exhibition at Winchester School of Art (SO23 8DL) from 9-12 December. Please do take the time to visit this free public exhibition to see pupils’ artwork on show. See the linked PDF document for further information.

Young Carers
At Cams Hill School we are aware that some pupils are Young Carers. A Young Carer is a child under 18 who regularly helps to look after a family member or friend who is disabled, ill, has a mental health condition or addiction problem.
Children may engage in:
- Practical tasks (cooking, housework and shopping)
- Physical care (lifting or helping someone use the stairs)
- Personal care (dressing, washing, helping with toilet needs)
- Managing the family budget (collecting benefits and prescriptions)
- Managing medication
- Looking after younger siblings
- Helping someone communicate
Cams Hill School can support Young Carers. If you or a family member needs support, please contact either Miss Allen or your child’s Head of Year. All contact will be treated in the strictest confidence.
