There is no doubt this has been a difficult week for all of us, and we thank all our readers very much for their support as we continue to live and work in extraordinary and turbulent times.
Remembrance Day
On Wednesday 11 November, Cams Hill School collectively commemorated Remembrance Day around the theme of community. With the 2-minute silence and the last post played by two of our pupil instrumentalists, staff and pupils contributed with images, stories, medals and interviews from themselves or relatives who have seen or been a part of conflict throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.
As a community, it is important to share these stories and memories to keep them alive and to show pupils that remembrance is more wider reaching than ever before. A small clip with a selection of the material provided was shown to pupils on Wednesday to help keep these stories alive.
Anti-bullying Week 16 – 20 November 2020 – United Against Bullying
Next week is Anti-Bullying Week and we will be supporting this initiative across all year groups throughout the week.
The theme this year is United Against Bullying and it will start with ‘Odd Socks Day’ taking place on Monday 16 November.
Last year 75% of schools in the country participated in the ‘Odd Socks Day’, reaching well over 7 million young people involved. On the day, pupils are encouraged to wear odd socks with the more colourful and crazier the better! This is an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and to show what makes us all unique!
We will be taking photos as pupils arrive in the morning and putting them out on social media throughout the day to mark the first day of Anti-bullying week.
Key Stage 3 Art Homework Booklets
This term the Art Department have been trialling the use of of homework booklets to extend and enrich pupils’ love and learning of Art at Key Stage 3. Tasks are specifically designed to complement the learning in lessons and the projects pupils are studying.
Pupils have been asked to keep their booklets at home until December when they will be collected for marking and are encouraged to work on a new page every fortnight, spending 30-60 minutes on each activity. We have been thrilled with the response of pupils and we have been pleased to receive images via email of the work being completed. Well done!!
For any Key Stage 3 pupil who has misplaced their booklet, we have uploaded PDF versions onto the school website which you can access by following this link. Any problems please do get in touch and Mrs Oswald-Cutler (Head of Art) will be happy to help.
