Thank you to all parents/carers who were able to join us at the Year 10 Parents’ Subject Evening on Tuesday and for the feedback offered with regard to their child’s general school experience; this forms part of evaluation into the effectiveness of our work with pupils and improvement planning.

The annual Year 7 Talent Show took place this week with Year 7 pupils getting up onto stage and entertaining the Year 7 pupil audience. Please do read on to hear more about the show and the other activities that have taken place this week.

Year 7 Talent Show

 

This year we were treated to a diverse and wide range of acts at the Year 7 talent show. Competition was fierce and the judges found it hard to choose but after tense deliberations the winners were chosen:

1. Francesca Taylor 7H2-Dancing and Singing (musical talent)
2. Harrison Hallin 7H4 comedy (Non-musical talent)
3. 7C3 group act-Dancing
4. Oliver Norval 7H4-Rubix cube wonder

and a bonus prize to 7H3 Dan Higgins, Stan Furse and Max Filipowicz

Well done to all competitors and a special mention to Mr Atkins who joined his group for a special staff performance at the end!

Year 11 GCSE Hospitality and Catering Visit to the Portsmouth Marriot Hotel

 

On 14 January, our Year 11 Hospitality and Catering pupils spent the morning at the Portsmouth Marriot Hotel. The visit supported theoretical elements of the course and pupils gained an understanding of job roles and responsibilities within the service industry and how a catering provision operates. Pupils enjoyed a hotel ‘walk round’ with an opportunity to see staff in action in a range of departments including:

• Front of House
• Housekeeping
• Conference and Banqueting
• Bar and restaurant
• Kitchen

The session closed with a Q and A session with the HR Manager which gave pupils further valuable insight into the Hospitality and Catering industry.

Big Ideas Day

We only have one planet, and it is our responsibility to look after it, this Monday we had the privilege at Cams Hill of hosting “Solutions for the Planet” who ran a “Big Ideas” day encouraging Year 7 and Year 8 pupils to come up with their own ideas how we can help the planet. Pupil mentor Cordelia Towers describes her experiences of the day:

“Last Monday I had the pleasure of being a pupil helper for the Big Ideas project going on at school. Despite doing the stem project when I was in year 7, I still learnt new things. It was so incredible discussing with the younger years their ideas and how they could change the world for the better. Everyone there was incredible especially the speakers. It was an inspirational and hopeful day.”

Little Red Riding Hood

 

Year 7 laughed, cheered and clapped their way through an exciting portrayal of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, performed by Bumblefly Theatre, with brief stops along the way with the 3 Little Pigs, the girl with the empty pot and True and Untrue. Miss Emery discovered her natural talent for the stage and the year group had the opportunity to ask some insightful questions to the cast. An enjoyable afternoon had by all.

PACE Event at Cams Hill School on 31 January 2020

We are hosting a PACE Event on 31 January 2020 which will involve sessions and information stands on a variety of key relevant topics for young people’s health and wellbeing.  If you are interested in attending, please book direct with CAMHS as per the leaflet below
