What a wonderful week it has been!
A visit from BBC South Today, a Dance Festival, the publication of our Ofsted Report and a fun-filled day raising money for Children in Need and our house charities – in total the school has raised over £1,200.
The week began with Remembrance Day and the school community uniting in a 2-minute silence. With the ‘Last Post’ played by Emma Sims on her trumpet and activities during tutor time focusing on the importance of Remembrance Day, this made for a reflective and thought provoking day. Do read below about the upcoming ‘History Showcase’ event with its focus on WW2 and diversity.
This week we were also in receipt of our Ofsted Report following inspection under the new Ofsted Framework before the half-term. The report “celebrates the incredible pupils and wonderful staff that learn and work here and make it the fabulous place that it is” Mrs Harrison-Jones 14 November 2019. We are all proud of our school and value the support of our parents/carers and wider community as we continue to ensure that pupils enjoy their time with us and make great progress.
This week we welcomed into school more headteachers/teachers from our local junior/primary schools to say a surprise hello to their past pupils now in Year 7. They continue to be magic moments as you see the emotion and excitement on the pupils’ faces as their ‘old’ teachers appear through the door!
With the cold and wet weather upon us, we do ask that parents/carers ensure that their son/daughter is coming to school with a suitably warm and waterproof coat.

Gosport and Fareham Dance Festival 2019
A selection of Cams Hill pupils went to Brune Park school on Thursday evening to represent the school’s Dance Department. The pupils performed a selection of dances from our recently established ‘Dance Company’ and from the Year 10 and Year 11 GCSE cohorts. The dancers performed with pure professionalism and the biggest smiles you can imagine. As always, Cams Hill pupils showed the other local schools how talented and hardworking they are and made me proud to be there with them.

The Wooftastic, Mr Barney Knight
We were lucky enough to have BBC South Today in on Wednesday, reporting on the impact of Barney Knight … our newest, furriest member of staff.
Barney has made a significant impact on the well-being of both pupils and staff at Cams Hill School, so we were thrilled to have the opportunity to talk with the reporter, Tom Hepworth.
We were also incredibly proud of our two pupils, Oakley and Bethan, who were interviewed and filmed for the segment. If you’d like to watch it, you can currently see it on BBC iPlayer (https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000bc8v/south-today-evening-news-13112019) at about 16 minutes in.
You can also hear Mrs Harrison-Jones talk about Barney on Radio Solent during Wednesday’s episode, at 525pm.
Cams Hill Alumni
Cams Hill School is in the process of setting up a Cams Hill Alumni, to help inspire our pupils and celebrate the career pathways of our previous pupils. We would love to hear from anyone who used to attend Cams Hill School and find out what people have gone on to do and achieve.
If you’d like to get in touch or are in contact with former pupils, please pass on our email (alumni@camshill.com). We are keen to see where our pupils went after Cams Hill in terms of further education and the career pathway that followed. Please could you also indicate if you’d be happy to share your information as we would very much like to motivate pupils with stories of your journey and success!
