Thank you to all parents and carers who were able to join us for the Year 10 Tutor Evening on Tuesday. The evening was designed to offer insight into how well pupils have settled into their Key Stage 4 courses. We also provided valuable information on how best to support pupils at home with their studies and equally important, how to support their well-being. It was great to see so many of you there supporting this home/school collaboration. A date for your diary … the Year 10 Parents’ Evening where parents/carers can meet with subject teachers will be taking place on 14 January 2020.
Travel to School
We frequently remind pupils about safe travel to and from school and respectfully remind pupils/parents/carers of the expectation when cycling to school for pupils to wear a cycle helmet. As the nights draw in, we also ask that parents/carers ensure that their child is visible on the road with suitable bike lights and high-viz where possible.
We also ask drivers to be mindful of the local residents when dropping off their child/children at school to avoid blocking the movement of other vehicles and parking across driveways. Thank you in anticipation of your support.
Emergency Action Planning
Parents and carers will be in receipt of a letter from the Headteacher this week regarding the schools Emergency Action Planning (EAP) procedures.
Should parents/carers have any questions or concerns or wish to seek clarification or offer feedback, there is an informal drop-in opportunity for parents/carers next Wednesday 23 October 2019 between 1600-1800 with the Headteacher and members of the Senior Leadership Team.
The Headteacher’s blog contains more informal reflections and is available here:

Last weekend 73 Year 9 pupils accompanied by teachers and school staff, headed to the WW1 Battlefields in Belgium and France.
They visited memorials and cemeteries for both the Allied and German soldiers as well as different trench systems to gain an understanding and appreciation of what life was like living in the trenches.
Pupils had the opportunity to participate in the ‘Last Post’ ceremony at Menin Gate on the Friday evening, remembering all those who have fallen during the Great War.
As always, an emotional and reflective visit, highly valued by all those who participated.
Parents and Carers of Class 2020
Following feedback from parents/carers last year and with a view to build even stronger relationships with our parents/carers, the Class of 2020 email address is now live.
If you have a child in Year 11 and wish to get in touch directly with either Mrs Newman (Head of Year 11) or Miss Kendall (Assistant Head of Year 11) then please use the email address class2020@camshill.com . They will endeavour to reply within 48 hours. No matter how big or small, please do get in touch with regards to any matter as your child is very important to us.
This week, the Art and Design Technology Departments celebrated the work of the GCSE #ClassOf2019 in their Annual Exhibition.
There was a fantastic turnout on the evening of the Private View and it was wonderful to meet and catch-up with many of our recently left pupils.
On display was work from Art, Craft and Design, Textile Design, Photography, Graphic Communication and Product Design. There was also an amazing array of refreshments for our guests to enjoy, made by current Year 10 Catering pupils.
The exhibition has been available for viewing for the week to inspire current Key Stage 3 and GCSE pupils during their Art lessons.
