Welcome back following the half-term break.  We were fortunate enough to come back to school with gloriously sunny and warm weather that almost gave us that Summer Term feeling!

 

As we move nearer to the GCSE exam season, Year 11 are now gearing up to their second series of Mock Examinations which take place from the 6 – 13 March 2019.  The first exam is the English Language Paper 1 taking place on Wednesday 6 March 2019.

 

Thank you to pupils, parents and carers who joined us on Thursday evening for the child with parent workshops on ‘How to revise GCSE Mathematics and English’ – we hope that you found these sessions helpful as pupils prepare themselves at home for their exams.  Any feedback you are able to offer is gratefully received.

Support for Parents/Carers – Free Workshop ‘What is Anxiety?’

 

Following on from the parent/carer discussion forum, we are inviting parents and carers to attend a workshop which will look at and provide guided support and tips around understanding and coping with a child’s anxiety.  Parents and Carers have been sent a letter with more details about the workshop delivered by a representative from ‘Upturn (part of Solent Mind) which is taking place here at the school on:

 

Parents of pupils in Years 7-9 – Wednesday 13 March 2019 – 0930-1100

Parents of pupils Years 10-11 – Thursday 14 March 2019 – 0930-1100

 

‘Epilogues within Her Eyes’

 

On Thursday evening, the GCSE dance cohort took a trip to Newbury Corn Exchange to watch ‘Within her eyes’ by the James Cousins Company.  This is one of the professional works pupils have to study, so having the opportunity to see it live was a real privilege.  The pupils enjoyed every minute and were so impressed by the strength and stamina of the dancers who managed to keep the female from touching the floor throughout the 17-minute performance.

 

The trip was topped off with an opportunity to see new work choreographed by James Cousins, offering another great opportunity for the pupils to explore dance features they had never experienced before.  A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all!

 

Kindness at Cams Hill School

 

 

Our Kindness Ambassadors wanted to start the term off with a kindness bang coming up with inspirational kindness quotes to spread around the school early on Monday morning.  The Ambassadors also visited lessons, delivering flowers and inspirational messages making both staff and pupils smile, modelling how we want kindness to be a part of everyday life at Cams Hill.

 

Kindness to the Environment Campaign and Food Bank Collections

We will be working on our ‘Kindness to the Environment’ campaign soon.  Please keep saving your plastic milk bottle lids.  This campaign will be launched in assemblies soon and we will be collecting for the local food bank from 25 March 2019 until 5 April 2019.  The collection point will be in Reception.  House points will be available for both campaigns, mixing kindness with the house competitions.
