Weekly Message
Yesterday evening, the school held the second of its Year 9 careers/courses evenings. This was an opportunity for Year 9 pupils and their parents to come in to learn about the variety of courses offered in Key Stage 4. It was an extremely well-attended evening – thank you to everyone who made it such a positive and successful event.
Tomorrow, the Geography Department are taking 37 Year 11 pupils to Iceland on a four-day trip. The highlights include a trip of the Golden Circle, an exploration of the spectacular scenery and a morning to the Blue Lagoon. We hope that you all have a good half-term. Enjoy a well-deserved rest and we look forward to seeing all pupils back on Monday 19 February.

Youth Speaks Competition
Three teams, one Intermediate and two Senior, represented Cams Hill School in the first round of the Youth Speaks competition on Monday 22 January. The event took place at Fareham Civic Offices, with students from a number of Fareham schools delivering their presentations to a judging panel that included the Mayor.
Our teams were extremely confident in the delivery of their ideas, offering pertinent responses to some rather challenging questions on their chosen topics, and really did Cams Hill proud. Our intermediate team, James Murphy, Lucy Brown and Amelia Silsbury, spoke passionately about how we can make changes to preserve our planet for future generations, and provided insight into relevant environmental issues.
One of our Senior teams, Kaylah Brooks, Isaac Skingley and Laila Mutlaq, presented ideas about the potential hazards and negative effects of social media. Again, a subject that is increasingly relevant, confidently delivered by all members of the team.
Proudly winning second place in the Senior category, Phoebe Costello, Roseby Scovell and Daisy-May Parsley (pictured right), were a force to be reckoned with as they presented their ideas on the subject of a local issue with their presentation entitled ‘Are Green Spaces Worth The Sacrifice Of Shelter For All?’. They were courageous in choosing to speak on a controversial local issue, and eloquently fearless in responding to some extremely challenging questioning.
Huge congratulations to all pupils who took part in the competition this year – you readily accepted the challenge despite having limited time and I absolutely loved working with you in preparation for the big event. You all have much to be proud of. Very well done!

Gosport Schools Country League
This week Cams hosted match 3 of the Fareham and Gosport Schools Cross Country league.
We had an excellent turnout at both the Year 7 and Year 8 races. Some photos of the Year 7 and 8 athletes are below!

From 12 January baguettes will be reduced to 55p (was 60p), but if butter is required the cost will be increased to 65p.
Free school meals must only use the dining hall at lunch time, and have either a MEAL DEAL or MAIN MEAL.

A polite reminder to Parents/Carers please ensure that all pupils property is clearly named with the pupils name and tutor group.
Various keys, watches and pairs of spectacles are kept in the Medical Room when handed into lost property. When named items are handed in to the Medical Room Form Tutors are notified by e-mail or printed slips, which are sent in school registers, to ask pupils to come and collect the items.
