Maximising the learning time for pupils is of paramount importance. An interruption free environment, in the classroom and around the school means that everyone can focus on the core purpose of learning – whether that is learning subject related skills and knowledge or general life skills for the future.

As members of our school community, we adhere to the values of being: ‘Ready, Respectful, Resilient’ We believe that promoting good behaviour and rewarding success, coupled with having clear rules that are fair and easily understood, helps pupils to do this. More information can be found in The Good Behaviour Policy available on the school’s website.

Westbound Pathway Along the A27

The pathway has re-opened, and pupils are appreciating no longer having to take the deviation to and from school. We ask that pupils familiarise themselves with the new layout, which includes a cycle lane and that cyclists use the right side of the lane for their direction of travel. All pupils will continue to enter the school site in the morning using the main entrance on Shearwater Avenue but can leave at the end of the day via the side gate onto the A27 or the main exit.

Life of Pi Theatre Trip

56 Year 8 and 9 pupils had an amazing time at The Mayflower in Southampton watching Life of Pi on Thursday night. They were in awe of the female Pi and the incredibly realistic animal puppets. It was a fantastic performance and a fantastic night.

Steve Willis Apprenticeship Taster Session

On Wednesday a group of Year 10 pupils attended a Steve Willis Apprenticeship Taster Session. During this session pupils listened to a presentation about the gas and electrical industry in the UK and how with an aging workforce, the industry will be looking for many more skilled engineers in the next ten years.  They also had a hands-on experience of working in teams to create a gas pipe circuit and found out about how apprenticeships work.  All those who attended were extremely engaged and worked brilliantly in their teams to achieve a perfect circuit.

Attendance Spotlight – What Parents/Carers Should Do If Their Child Is Absent

A child not attending school is considered a safeguarding matter. This is why information about the cause of any absence is always required. If a child is absent, parents/carers must contact the school as soon as possible on the first day of absence and on each subsequent day of absence. Calls should be made to our absence line – 01329 800901, or an email should be sent to office@camshill.com, or parents/carers can call into school and report to Main Reception.

If your child is absent, we will:

  • code their absence appropriately.
  • invite parents/carers into school to discuss the situation with their Head of Year and/or the Attendance Home School Link Worker if absence is going to be prolonged.
  • communicate with parents/carers regularly if their child’s attendance moves below 95%.
  • arrange a meeting to discuss an attendance plan if a child’s attendance is persistently below 95%.
  • refer the matter to Hampshire’s Attendance Legal Panel if absence is unauthorised and remains below 95%.

Please note: If a child is not seen and contact has not been established with any of the named parents/carers after three days of absence, the Attendance Home School Link Worker is required to make a home visit, to ascertain the well-being of the child and the reason for absence.
