Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope that you have enjoyed some rest and relaxation over the festive break and have been able to spend time with friends and family.
Pupils have hit the ground running on their return to school this week, getting back into the rhythm of school life and learning – the Spring Term is now underway!
Thank you to parents and carers for ensuring that pupils have come back to school on time and ready and prepared to learn. The weather, however, has certainly not been on our side so please do ensure your child has a coat to wear on their way to and from school. We also remind pupils, parents, and carers that ‘hoodies’ are not permitted in school and therefore pupils should not be wearing them when they come onto the school site.
Please note that the dates of forthcoming events can be found on the calendar published on our website, The school will be closed to pupils on Friday 26 January 2024 as this is an INSET Day (a common closure day across several schools in Fareham and Gosport).
Year 11 Revision Sessions
All Year 11 pupils received their personalised revision and intervention letters before the Christmas half term. Here is the Year 11 Revision Timetable. We look forward to seeing pupils in these sessions.
Clubs and Activities
It is wonderful to see so many pupils participate in the different activities available which offer character-building opportunities to support and develop the talents and interests of all pupils. There are plenty of clubs and activities that your child can get involved in with a few mentioned in this weekly message. The full selection can be found on our website.
Art Club Begins Prop Making
This week saw the return of Art Club with sculpture and pupils building props for the upcoming school production. They have been tasked with creating limbs for ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’, which will be performed in February 2024.
We have so far, created 14 arms out of cardboard, newspaper, and masking tape. We will be continuing with them next week before covering them in plaster infused bandages and painting them.
More information about Art Club and the current projects can be found on Synergy.
Key Stage 4 Art, Graphics and Photography Catch-Up
With the launch of the exam themes this week we are keen for our Year 11 GCSE Art, Photography, and Graphics pupils to regularly attend the catch-up session held after school every Thursday. Specialist teachers will be on hand until 4.30 to offer support, advice, and a cup of tea.

Colleges’ Drop-In Sessions
On Wednesday UTC Portsmouth visited the school for a drop-in over lunch time. Pupils from Year 7 to Year 11 spoke with them about the range of courses they offer post-16 and some of the incredible degree programmes their students have gone on to study. It was great to see a queue of pupils wanting to speak to them! Please be reminded these drop-ins are every Wednesday between now and 13 March 2024 and will be based outside the Dining Hall.
Celebrating Pupils’ Success Out of School
We are excited to launch our new Community Briefing on Monday which will be delivered to all pupils during tutor time. We will be sharing information about the range of after-school activities on offer, there will be a video with highlights from around the school from the previous week, a motivational focus and a reminder of our behaviour curriculum and standards. Most importantly the if offers us the chance to celebrate the achievements of our pupils and our school.
With this in mind, we are asking parents/carers to email us at office@camshill.com using ‘achievements at Cams Hill’ in the subject line, with any successes that your child may have achieved outside school. You may have a budding actor who has achieved their first role in theatre group, or a competitive gymnast in the midst who has had success in a competition.
This weekly briefing will give us the opportunity to celebrate as many pupils as possible across all the year groups, so please do get in touch as often as you can.
